UK users still don’t trust fancy new Internet top-level domains, study finds -

Eighteen months into the new era of generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as .london, .shop and .bank barely one in ten British and US consumers feels comfortable visiting websites using them, according to a large survey by security firm NCC Group.
The survey of 10,000 consumers (5,000 from each country) found that 87 percent said that they didn't feel comfortable visiting new domains, presumably an issue connected to unfamiliarity.

Study of 10K People: 49% of Consumers Are Uncomfortable With Vising A Site … - Global information assurance firm, NCC Group released the results of The New Internet Study, today of 10,000 people.
NCC Group questioned 10,000 consumers across the US and UK regarding their attitudes to these new gTLDs.
49% of respondents said they felt uncomfortable visiting a web site using a new gTLD domain.
42% of web users reported feeling less secure online since their introduction while 35% feel just as secure.

WIPO sees UDRP increase - Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) complaints increased 2 percent in 2014, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Trademark owners filed 2,634 cases concerning 5,591 domain names through the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.
WIPO also speculated that registrations in new gTLDs have triggered UDRP cases. Registrations in new gTLDs represented 3.9 percent of domain names in WIPO’s caseload compared to 65.2 percent in .com in 2013.
