Just a little over 2 months after launching out of Beta, Google new domain name registrar Google Domains is showing as the number one organic entry under Google when you search for the term “domains” replacing registrars like Godaddy.co,, Network Solutions.com, 1and1.com, NameCheap.com and Domain.com
Google Domains is also ranking organically, number 2 under the term “domain registrar” number 4 for the term “domain” number 6 for the term “domain registrars”

Donuts Suffers the 1st Overall Negative Domain Day -
The new gTLD Registry, Donuts suffered its first net negative domain day since becoming a registry; where the number of new domain names registered were exceeded by the number of new gTLD deleted or removed from the zone file for non-renewal.
According to ntldstats.com Donuts had a net loss of 63 domain names yesterday on March 22nd.

Eric Goldman published an article on what he deemed an important legal victory for Go Daddy. Go Daddy won a Section 230 case which involved some Teamsters Union members. Section 230 is a part of the Communications Deceny Act and it provides immunity for providers like Go Daddy hosting.

Butterfly Twists Is Every New gTLD Operator's Dream - Butterfly Twists is a shoe company based in the U.K. Steve Hall wrote a story on Marketing Land that should be of interest to those dabbling in the new gltd space. The company went out and registered 100 different new domains and created a custom website for each one.
They even did a video which is basically an introduction to the new gtlds for their customers. Every registry should hope that other companies emulate Butterfly Twists.

Taylor Swift Registers TaylorSwift.porn But May Have Missed TaylorSwiftPorn.com - There are at least 50 stories in non-domain publications about Taylor Swift registering two new gTLD domain names TaylorSwift.Porn and TaylorSwift.adult yesterday in the Sunrise period.

The Verge published an article that painted Google in a very bad light. When your motto is “Do No Evil” being accused of blackmail can be very upsetting. The article discusses certain findings by the FTC back in 2012. Apparently one of the findings was that Google lifted product rankings and placed them in their own search results for those products. When the companies complained to Google about the process, Google threatened to remove them entirely from results.

A UDRP has been filed on the domain name Kite.com
The registrant of the domain is currently Escrow.com under the email address of dnholding@escrow.com.
While I have no details about Kite.com I can tell you that Escrow.com uses that email address when its holding a domain name that has been sold typically while payments are still being made by the buyer to the seller, through escrow.com
The domain was owned under privacy at Godaddy and transferred to Escrow.com on March 15th.

China Denies Any Involvement in Cyber Attack on Register.com - An article on TheHill.com says that China has denied they had any involvement in a cyberattack on Register.com. The crazy thing is that the hackers were in Register.com’s system for over a year.

In 2006 Ice.com bought the domain name Diamond.com for $7.5 Million from Odimo
According DnJournal.com, Diamond.com it is the 5th highest all cash domain sale of all time.
“If you consider that in nine years, the market has gone up, we hope for a better number than [the previous sale],” says Paul Nicks, senior director of aftermarket at GoDaddy. “If you look at the top end of the domain market, it’s all generic.”
