DiscoverIndia.com updated and now shutting cost is $5,047 - Earlier today we wrote about the DiscoverIndia.com auction closing at $106,000. Go Daddy has updated the closing price, when I checked my watchlist  it now shows $5,047 as the closing price. They must have noticed something not right and cancelled the bids that were above $5,047. It looks like it was bidder 11 that they had a problem with. I will speak to Paul Nicks and see if he can shed any new light on the topic. 2014/03/03 09:54 AM (PST) 2014/03/03 10:57 AM (PST) Bidder 13 $5,047 Comment: Proxy ... read more ...

See how John Berryhill schools a UDRP complainant - Berryhill brings it home in ican.com case. John Berryhill has successfully defended Digimedia’s domain name ican.com in a UDRP brought by Galaxy Rainbow Limited in Hong Kong. Berryhill pokes a number of holes in Galaxy Rainbow’s case, but really brings it home in the “registered in bad faith” section. New TLD registries need to forget about morning revenue - New top level domain registries need to scratch the sunrise line item off their PLs. I think many observers are surprised by the low number of trademark sunrise registrations in new top level domain names so far. Calzone, a calendar for new TLD rollouts, has put together some numbers and analysis on sunrise periods so far. The net-net is that sunrises so far have averaged between 100-200 registrations. That’s about 1% of how many sunrise registrations .co received ... read more ...

Et Tu, ICANN? ICANN Board’s Recent Decision on the .Islam and .Halal TLD … - On Feb. 7, 2014 Dr. Stephen Crocker, the Chair of the ICANN Board of Directors, wrote to Asia Green IT System (AGIT), a Turkish company which applied for .Islam and .Halal, conveying ICANN's latest position on these two applications. The letter is deeply flawed, and shows how ICANN's handling of the .Islam and .Halal applications is at once an egregious assault on the new gTLD program rules, and a betrayal of whatever trust Muslims around the world might have had in ICANN. ICANN will be well-advised ... read more ...
