ICANN’s Christine Willett just gave an update on the New gTLD program from the first session at the ICANN meeting in Durban:
“As Yesterday my team has published results for through priority number 1,200 of the application. so we’ve released 1,100 initial evaluation results.
Over 1,000 applications having passed initial evaluation. we have had 13 applications identified as eligible for extended evaluation.
There have been 49 withdrawn applications out of that first 1,200 prioritized.

Six Figure, One Word Domain Name, Action.com Being Forwarded To A Facebook Page - Poking around the net this week I found that the one word .com domain name action.com is being simply forwarded to a Facebook page.
The domain which I would estimate as a low six figure domain name doesn’t resolve to a site but is going to a Facebook page “For MEN who like MEN”.

ICM’s .Adult Passes ICANN’s Initial Evaluation -
MARINA DEL REY, Calif. — ICM Registry's application for .adult has passed its initial evaluation and was given approval today to move forward in ICANN's gTLD screening process.
So far, 1,100 applications for gTLDs have either passed, failed or qualified for extended evaluation in ICANN's filtering process, which began earlier this year. Today, 95 applications were given the green light.
