Big New gTLD Brand Withdraws As L’Oréal Drops Application For .LOREAL - L’Oréal which is one of the largest brand applicants for new gTLD’s just withdrew its application for the its matching new gTLD brand .LOREAL
L’Oréal which applied for 14 new gTLD has now withdrawn 3 applications.
L’Oréal previously withdrew its application for .KIEHLS and the IDN of .欧莱雅
This marked the 73rd withdrawn new gTLD application with ICANN

Donuts won the private auction for the .photography top level domain name.
Of the six new top level domain name auctions Donuts participated in this past week, the company walked away with at least one top bid.
Domain Name Wire has confirmed that Donuts won the auction for .photography. It was in contention with Top Level Design, a company that applied for ten top level domains.
Top Level Design is lead by Ray King, who co-founded drop catching service SnapNames.

So How Much Is A 2 Letter or Number .Co Domain Worth? - With yesterday’s announcement that the .CO registry had put up for sale some 1,100 2 character domain names, including 2 letter .co and 2 number .co domains, I got a few email’s from domain investors asking me what I thought they were worth.
I think we can all agree with it comes to a two letter .com they are worth at least $100K and as we know can sell for as much as FB.com which sold for a reported $8.5 Million, so what is a two letter .co worth?

.CLUB DOMAINS WINS The New gTLD .CLUB “IN HISTORIC FIRST PRIVATE AUCTION” - .Club Domains, LLC announced today they have won the rights to the new generic top level domain (gTLD) name .CLUB
The .CLUB name was obtained in the first private auction to be completed since ICANN began the new gTLD process.
The other applicants for .Club that participated in the private auction was Donuts and the Merchant Law Group LLP.

ICANN shakes up leadership positions.
ICANN has moved chief operating officer Akram Atallah to a new role and hired a replacement from outside the organization.
Atallah has been named president of the Generic Domains Division. This new group will focus on generic domain operations, domain name industry engagement and web services for the community.

Resolution doesn’t resolve much; uncertainty remains.
The ICANN Board New gTLD Program Committee (NGPC) has approved a resolution ruling on a number of items of advice from the Governmental Advisory Committee with regards to new top level domain names.
