Main ICANN budget still assumes 500 applications.
In January ICANN released its framework for the FY 2013 budget (which begins in July). Its framework for new TLD revenue was based on 500 applications for new top level domains.

only 500 applications.
I realize these things have a long lead time, but this is ludicrous. It’s quite clear there will be over 1,000 applications for new top level domains.

Warning: Twitter Forgery Attack Going On - I just received two emails in the last 1/2 both messages look like someone is sending a direct message from Twitter but in fact are trying to get you to sign into a forged site.
The emails are coming from people I follow on Twitter so it looks credible but its not.
Here is what the email say:
“”Hey this user is making really bad things about you”
The email then has a link that it wants you to click on which goes to a twitter phishing site, twititre.com

The domain is owned by Specialized Micro Architects, a company’s who initials match the domain SMA.
The domain was first registered in 1995.
The oldest record on DomainTools.com for the domain is from 2001 and at that time the current domain owner owned the domain.

QuinStreet’s Revenue & Profits Tank & So Does The Stock - Quinstreet (QNST) reported its earnings for the 1st quarter of 2012 and the nine months ended March 31, 2012, today and they reported lower revenue and earnings than the street was expecting.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue dropped and earnings per share dropped significantly.
QuinStreet revenue was $93.0 million which was down 14% over the same quarter last year, where they reported $107.7 million.

5 ISP’s In Britian Are Ordered To Shut Down The Pirate Bay - The High Court in England ruled today that 5 of the UK’s largest internet service providers (ISP’s) have been ordered to prevent their subscribers from accessing the file-sharing website The Pirate Bay.
The five ISP’s are Sky, Everything Everywhere, TalkTalk, O2 and Virgin Media.
