FTC: Were Not Going To Fine Bloggers $11K, At Least Not The First Time - An interesting article appeared at FastCompany.com today talking about the new FTC regulations we blogged about the other day and its planned enforcement of those rules on Blogs and other online marketers.
FastCompany posed a bunch of questions to Richard Cleland, assistant director, division of advertising practices at the FTC.
While certainly Mr. Cleland statements are not binding on the FTC, it does give some insight on how the FTC is going to enforce the new rules on bloggers.

SedoPro Partner Forum Wraps Up in Key West -
Successful and enjoyable conference comes to an end.
The SedoPro Partner Forum concluded this morning in Key West, Florida.
Yesterday started with a couple panels in the morning, followed by an afternoon of wave runners, snorkeling, bike riding, and scooters. After an afternoon in the hot sun, attendees walked over to an oceanfront restaurant for a steak and seafood dinner (see picture below, courtesy of Bill Sweetman of Tucows).

Ticket.com Sells For $1.525 Million On Afternic.com - Afternic.com just announced they have sold the domain Ticket.com for $1,525,000.
The domain is owned by BuyDomains.com
Another huge seven figure sale for the industry.
It will be the 5th highest domain sale on Ron Jackson DNJournal year to date chart for 2009.

Here’s an interesting UDRP domain arbitration decided by a National Arbitration Forum panelist.
Dun Bradstreet Corporation, which operates DNB.com, filed for arbitration against DBN.com. The domain owner didn’t respond to the complaint and lost the case. It didn’t help that his parking page at DBN.com has links for products related to Dun Bradstreet.

An arbitrator with World Intellectual Property Organization has awarded the domain name DKB.com to Deutsche Kreditbank AG. The owner of DKB.com, DKB Data Services, had invalid contact information and may have been dissolved — which probably explains why it didn’t respond to the complaint.

Drew Carey Ups His Bid For Twitter Account “Drew” To A Cool Million - Last week we told you about Drew Carey, bidding up to $100,000 for the Twitter name “Drew” (@drewfromTV) if he got 100,000 followers on his own Twitter account by November 9, 2009.
Since the news last week, the number of followers on Drew Carey account went from around 13,000 to over 50,000.

Google: Ad Recession Is Over - The CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt said today, that the worst of the advertising recession is over and Google started to see signs of a recovery in May and June.
Schmidt said that the largest U.S. Internet search engine has increased its hiring and investment in anticipation of a recovery.
“The worst is behind us,” he said. “We’re clearly seeing aspects of recovery, not just in the U.S. but also Europe.”

Another Six Figure Domain Sale: Freelancer.com - According to TechCrunch.com, an Australian company that’s been offering freelance jobs online since 2004, using the domain GetAFreeLancer.com, recently acquired the domain Freelancer.com for “a six figure sum”.
The domain according to the article was purchased from a private individual who used to run a magazine called Computer Freelancer.
So although we don’t know the exact price of the domain, we can add another good domain to the six figure sales list for this year.

.Org Registrations Grew 11% In First Half Of Year, Making It The Fastest Growing TLD - The Public Interest Registry, the company that runs the .Org registry released today their first bi-annual domain name report, “The Dashboard“. (pdf file)
“The Dashboard” revealed that registrations for .ORG domain names grew 11%, up to 7.69 million total registrations in the first half of 2009, compared to a year ago.
From January to June, .ORG’s experienced the highest percentage growth rate of any TLD at 5% (.com growth was at 3.2% and .mobi was the only TLD to show a decline in registrations).

ComScore: Drug Companies “Have Virtually Abandoned Search Advertising” & It’s All Because Of The Government - Maybe here is an reason why some of your PPC revenue is down.
According to Adage.com, drug companies, “have virtually abandoned search ad marketing in the wake of the FDA’s online ad crackdown earlier this year.”
The Adage.com article cites a study from ComScore, which showed that “paid search ads by pharmaceutical companies dropped 84% between March 26 of this year and the end of June.”
