Google Doesn’t Count Existing Backlinks When You Get An Expired or Drop Domain - Danny Sullivan, search engine guru, just published a post on this blog,  SearchEngineLand.com, in which he got the “Official Word” from Matt Cutts of how Google treats existing links when a domain is transferred, sold or dropped: Mr. Cutts distinguished between, “domain transfers ( e.g. genuine purchases of companies) where it can make perfect sense for existing links to transfer.” and the links from an “expired or effectively expired domains” of which he said: “””The sort of ... read more ...

Bido Starting to Get Results - Recent auctions show that platform can deliver good prices. I’ve been a fan of domain name auction platform Bido for awhile, even though I’ve had my reservations. My most recent complaint was domain quality. But Bido seems to be picking up the slack in that category. And a funny thing has happened as quality has improved: domains are starting to sell for “good” prices. Just moments ago TechSupport.mobi sold for $540. As an outside observer of .mobi, I’d ... read more ...

Why Do Domainers Pay More For “Dropped Domains” Than Owned Domains - This is a question that has puzzled me for years. The psychology involved with dropped domains vs. Owned domains. When a domain is in a drop auction at NameJet.com or Snapnames.com it seems everyone is willing to pay more, a lot more, than they would for the same name if it was for sale by the owner. I have never understood why, but I see evidence of it all the time. Take the name raspberry.com, which is currently in auction at at SnapNames.com, which closes on later today and already has a high ... read more ...

Fool.com: Google May Trade One Day For $20,000 A Share - Fool.com published an article tonight on MarketWatch technology columnist John Dvorak who argues that Google may trade in the next few year for $20,000 a share. The article looked at the growth of Microsoft shares which have increased 200% since it went public. The reasoning goes if Google shares would follow, then its IPO price of $100 in 2004, would eventually reach $20,000 a share (assuming no splits along the way). However if Google ever reached $20,000 per share it value would be $6 trillion ... read more ...
