Sedo Auction Could Set Records -
The latest Sedo Great Domains and .mobi auctions could set records.
Sedo’s Great Domains and .mobi auctions are growing in popularity. If early bidding is any indication, the current auctions could be the biggest yet.
Already, one of the .mobi domains look like it could break the .mobi sales price record. Games.mobi is at $142,500 with 66 bids. The .mobi auction ends tomorrow. The highest known .mobi sale to date is Flowers.commobi, which Rick Schwartz bought ... read more ...

2-U.com Auction Has a Serial Bidder -
2-U.com to sell for $20,000? Doubtful.
An auction for 2-U.com at Afternic caught my attention this morning. The domain isn’t that good, but has attracted 12 bids and is currently $20,000.
There’s a reason that a few bidders are interested in this domain. There’s a live web site at 2-U.com.my (that’s Malaysia’s country code), so this domain probably gets some traffic. But a review of the bid history looks like there’s one bidder driving up the price ... read more ...

When Should You Send a Sedo Offer to Auction? -
When you receive an offer on Sedo, should you send the domain to auction?
When Sedo launched its auction platform, domain sellers rejoiced. Prior to launching the auction format, sellers could only negotiate one-on-one with potential buyers. There was no way to trigger a reserve price and get added exposure similar to Afternic’s model.
When you receive an offer on Sedo, should you negotiate or send the domain directly to auction?
The answer: it depends on the ... read more ...

Affiliate.us gets EUR 120,000 Bid -
An auction for Affiliate.us is underway after receiving a 120,000 EUR bid at Sedo.
Affiliate.us is being auctioned at Sedo and the reserve is met. Bidding started after the owner received a EUR 120,000 bid (approximately $178,000 USD). The seller is well known, but it is unclear who the buyer is. Given the very high price, let’s hope Sedo verifies the bidder quickly to avoid any sort of embarrassment. “Affiliate” is a valuable term, but this auction would ... read more ...

Sedo Releases List for Next .Mobi Auction -
Next auction begins November 28 at Sedo.com.
mTLD, the registry for .mobi domains, must be very happy with its relationship with domain aftermarket Sedo. Sedo is working with mTLD to auction off premium .mobi domains. By all accounts, Sedo is getting top dollar for the domains.
At the last auction, Sedo sold Taxi.mobi for $75,000 and Dating.mobi for $73,000.
The next .mobi auction will start November 28. A quick review shows that this auction has perhaps the ... read more ...

GeoDomains Auction Sells $480,000 Domains -
Auction sells 34 domains including Perth.com for $200,000.
Moniker’s first ever GeoDomain live auction sold $479,550 worth of domains. But this is an auction where the silent portion may out perform the live one. The live auction was at the Associated Cities GeoDomain Conference in San Francisco on Saturday. The conference only attracted people specialized in local and geo domains, so many of Moniker’s typical big bidders were absent. But you can expect these ... read more ...

“Not Sold!” GoDaddy Signature Auctions Final Day Fizzles -
GoDaddy can learn from mistakes in its first Signature Auction.
When GoDaddy sent out a press release announcing the auction lineup for its first Signature Auctions, the headline boldly stated:
‘Sold!’ Go Daddy Offers Live Auction for Premium Domain Names
Perhaps it should have headlined “Not Sold!”. By my count, only 2 domains sold during the auction. This is despite GoDaddy changing the rules after the first day. It lowered the reserves on some domains. ... read more ...

After the first day of its premier Signature Auctions, GoDaddy made changes. According to the company:

We have been able to negotiate lower reserves on some of the remaining domain names in the auction and as a result we will also be re-listing several domains that were available yesterday. We are also changing the format slightly ... read more ...

GoDaddy Signature Auction Fails to Attract Bidders -
Only 1 sale in first day of auction.
The first of three days in GoDaddy’s first Signature Auctions failed to attract more than 1 bid, with only 1 of the domains selling. VirtualServer.com, the only good domain with a reasonable reserve, sold for $20,000.
My perspective is that the reserve prices were way to high. They seem much higher than experienced auctioneers such as Moniker have achieved. Here were the reserve prices for today’s domains:

As GoDaddy gears up for its first Signature Auction, Domain Name Wire gets answers to your commonly asked questions.
GoDaddy’s first Signature Auctions will take place November 6, 7, and 8. GoDaddy first announced the auctions in July, but has been mum since then. Last week GoDaddy released the auction list. There will 31 domains in the three day auction.

Cowboys.com Sells (Again) for $370,000 -
After Dallas Cowboys back out of deal, Cowboys.com sells for $95,000 more.
Murray Thibodeaux has had a roller coaster week. First, he “sold” his domain Cowboys.com to the Dallas Cowboys football team for $275,000 last week at the TRAFFIC auction. Then the Cowboys backed out of the deal (a big mistake). The domain was entered into the Moniker silent auction and sold for $370,000. The attention on the Cowboys football team backing out ended up increasing the ... read more ...

The Domain Name Auction Scene is a-Changin’ -
SnapNames to unveil new service, GoDaddy signature auctions (finally) on tap.
October has been a crazy month on the domain name auction scene. It’s not the great prices we’re seeing that make it interesting; it’s the shifting landscape of domain name auctioneers.
First, Network Solutions and eNom deserted SnapNames to start their own service, NameJet. This was a big blow to SnapNames, which basically owned the expired domain market. The company was recently ... read more ...

Hosting.mobi Sells for $101,000 -
First Sedo .mobi auction nets $850,000.
After a roaring start, .mobi aftermarket sales cooled down over the past few months. But Sedo’s first .mobi premium domain name auction was a big hit, selling close to a million dollars of domains. The auction had restrictions; buyers have to develop the domains within 6 months. (I’ll follow up to see if that actually happens.)
The top sale was Hosting.mobi, which fetched $101,000. Other notable sales include bank.mobi ... read more ...
