60% of all Mobile Banner Ad Clicks Are Accidents -
Ben Frederick, published a piece on Media post that looked at mobile advertising and how the majority of clicks on an ad are an accident. I know that sometimes when I come across a site on my iPhone when I click an (X) to close, it still goes through and takes me to the advertiser’s website. Mobile location firm Retale conducted the survey that showed among other things: After accidentally clicking an ad, most respondents said they felt annoyed (68%), frustrated (45%), or angry (22%).

Google to supplement Buy Buttons to Mobile Search - Google is planning on launching buy buttons in mobile search only, there will not be buttons when someone searches on desktop. One has to wonder how all the advertisers who spend big money on Adwords will feel about this. Engadget stated there are several reasons why this will be mobile only. The biggest reason ? Mobile searches outpacing desktop searches. The Wall Street Journal is responsible for breaking the story.

Was Google Mobilegeddon overblown? - I’m not seeing a big change in results. Are you?
Last month I eagerly looked forward to April 21. This was the day, Google told us, that it would start favoring mobile-friendly content in search results. It would have a “significant impact” on search results.
Has this had an effect on your mobile-friendly site? I can’t find much (if any) of a change on Domain Name Wire and in general searches.

Facebook to Launch Mobile Ad Network -
Mike Isaac wrote on Recode that Facebook will be launching their own mobile ad network.
Lots of people have wanted Facebook to build an ad network for a long time.

Neustar – 80 % of Local Searches on Mobile Phones Convert - Neustar put out a study and an infographic on the high conversion rates experienced in local search by those using mobile phones.

Desktop Advertising to Drop $1.4 billion in 2014 as Search becomes some-more mobile - eMarketer released a report today that estimates desktop advertising to drop by $1.4 billion while mobile search will increase over 82 % in 2014. Of course Google has been talking about this in their earnings reports for the last couple years. This is certainly not great news for domain investors who park their domains, as mobile clicks pay less than desktop clicks. King.com Seeks Up to a $7.6 Billion Valuation - King.com the maker of Candy Crush Saga could be looking at as much as a $7.6 billion valuation in their I.P.O. The Wall Street Journal reported today that the valuation would put King in the big leagues with a valuation rivaling the top video game companies on the market.
Of course King.com has had some negative publicity lately with their attempts to trademark Candy and Saga. Smaller game makers and gamers alike have expressed their displeasure with the company.

App Advice reported that M.dot has been rebranded to Go Daddy Go Mobile.
M.dot has just been updated to version 2.0. At the same time, it has been rebranded as GoDaddy GoMobile.
Released in October 2012, M.dot was acquired by GoDaddy in February 2013. And now, over a year later, the app has been renamed to officially carry the GoDaddy brand.

Candy Crush Saga Maker King.com Filing for IPO - We have written a couple times about King.com and their intellectual property goals of trademarking the words candy and saga.
Today the company announced they are looking to do an IPO. The company will look to trade under the symbol KING.

Afilias, the registry that operates the .mobi top level domain name, has lost a consolidated string confusion objection against applicants for .mobile.
This is, I believe, the first objection in which more than one applicant agreed to have the case heard on a consolidated basis.

Competition? Confusion? It remains to be seen.
Some owners of .mobi domain names are concerned about confusion and competition if one of the applicants for a .mobile domain name should be approved.
Indeed, the strings mobi and mobile are very similar. ICANN’s String Similarity Assessment Tool assigns a similarity score of 72, which is quite high.
