All New gTLD Registrations Should Be Subject to Sunrise Periods – Even … -
Planning to register your trademark as a domain name during a Sunrise Period only to find out that the registration appears on a Reserved Names list?
There are a number of reasons why a domain that matches your trademark is appearing on a Reserved Names list. First of all, if the domain desired is the subject of Name Collision (Zip File), it may appear on a Reserved Names list. Although this is not true for all registries, as some operators are allowing domains that have been the subject of ... read more ...

ICANN is MIA on .XYZ -
By now anyone who's part of the domain investment or broader ICANN community is aware of the curious saga of the recently launched .XYZ registry. Soon after its young CEO boldly stated, "we hope to reach 1 million .XYZ registrations in the first year and 5 million registrations in the first three years", the registry launched with a remarkable total of nearly 18,000 registrations on its first day, a total that has quickly grown to more than 100,000.

Its current promotion going out to its customer marketing the new gTLD .events features three domains, two of which are reserved by the registry thereby not available.

When Will Your gTLD Investments Be Profitable? -
My personal and business opinion is that if I were to buy new gTLD domain names, my investment would be long term rather than the short term investments I prefer to make on behalf of my company. I’ve heard mixed opinions from other people who are buying new gTLD domain names, and I want to hear your opinion on when new gTLD domain investments will be profitable.
To clarify this a bit more, I will give you an example of what I mean when I mention profitability. Let’s say you decide to ... read more ...

New gTLD Community Objection Standing Analysis -
The notion of community has been debated since the inception of the ICANN New gTLD Program. However, as far as we know no one has yet taken a holistic approach to analyzing the wealth of information generated by the experts who participated in the ICANN New gTLD community objection process.
As a community applicant for .eco on behalf of the environmental community, Big Room Inc. has a keen interest in understanding how independent experts are interpreting the ICANN notion of community.

Two “Premium Domain” New gTLD Auctions Start; Namejet For .Build; Sedo for … - I see a couple of “premium” domain name auctions are starting this week one at Namejet.com and one at Sedo for the new gTLD extensions .Build and .Bid respectively
At Namejet.com they are auctioning off 35 .Build Domains.
I have to say I don’t get these.
Many of the terms make sense but they are backwards. Many of these domain would be good domains, except that the terms starts with Build, not end with Build so selfconfidence.build doesn’t make that much sense as the proper term using in ... read more ...

Buying a new gTLD domain name? The process .sucks -
Up until this year, buying a domain name was pretty straightforward. With one or two accounts at registrars like GoDaddy or namecheap, you could buy just about any domain extension. Transferring domain names was also relatively easy.
However, this year brings us the release of more than 600 new domain extensions from ICANN. Stuff like .reviews, .ninja or .technology. The expansion of generic top-level domain (gTLD) names is huge and unprecedented in internet history, but the confusion ... read more ...
