End users ranging from a pest control company to a lender bought domain names at Sedo last week.
Sedo sold $1.7 million worth of domain names last week. It’s a higher-than-usual total, thanks in part to at least one undisclosed sale.

Many of Sedo’s big sales from last week are still in escrow, so this week’s list might seem a little light. Overall Sedo sold 693 domain names for a total of about $1 million last week.

A billionaire – technically his hedge fund – spent a lot less than that on his personal name.
Billionaire Bruce Kovner, chair of one of the world’s largest hedge funds, Caxton Associates, paid $2,395 for BruceKovner.com.

Two weeks of finish user domain sales during Sedo -
GE, MLB, and La Quinta make domain name purchases.
I’m still playing catch up with end user domain sales reports. I combined the last two weeks of Sedo sale into one report. Big name buyers include GE and Major League Baseball.
The Almond Board of California picked up Almonds.co.uk for $15,000.
GE paid $1,177 for OxygenNow.com.
It’s possible GE is also behind Sedo’s top purchase from a couple weeks ago, $30,000 for WaterTreatment.com. The domain was registered ... read more ...

Sedo’s Q2 marketplace investigate and where a tip 10 sole domains are now -
Sedo releases market data from second quarter plus a few new end user sales revealed.
Sedo released its second quarter market study today in a new infographic format.
The data show that sales volume and dollar volume were down slightly from the first quarter. The company sold 9,589 domains in the quarter. Total sales for Q2 were $17.5 million, down from $17.9 million in Q1. April was the strongest month with $6.8 million in sales.

Tucows sells AHN.org for $50,000 to hospital system.
Healthcare provider and insurance company Highmark spent $50,000 for the AHN.org domain name, topping Afternic’s list of reportable sales for last week.
The domain name is the acronym for Allegheny Health Network, which Highmark announced in April as the new name for a Pittsburgh hospital system anchored by West Penn Allegheny.
The health insurer bid $1.1 billion to buy the West Penn Allegheny Health System.

Major League Baseball turned to Sedo last week to buy the domain Outstandings.com. I’m not sure what it plans to do with it, although it does award a lot of “outstanding” player awards. Details on that purchase (and other end user domain name purchases on Sedo) are below.
