Last week’s finish user domain name sales during Sedo -
A Hong Kong game developer, investment firm and manufacturer bought domain names last week.
Sedo handled 509 domain name transactions last week, for a total of $1.3 million. It was a little bit harder than usual to find obvious end user sales, but there are plenty of them.
Once again, many of the sales were to people who owned one TLD version of a domain picking up another.

An antiquated technology term in .me sells for five figures.
Sedo sold $1 million worth of domain names last week. While this week’s list doesn’t include as many end user buyers as the last one (at least publicly), a lot of smaller businesses bought domain names.
One of the most amusing ones is Telegram.me at $10,000. Now, be honest — if someone told you they registered a domain name with telegram in it, you’d laugh at him. Right? The New Zealand man who ... read more ...

Disney, AMC and other big names bought domain names last week.
Sedo had a busy sales week when it came to selling domain names to big name end users. From Disney, to $10 billion clothing company Next, to AMC, a number of household brands bought domain names at the marketplace last week.
Interestingly, these three companies bought non-.com domains. .Club was the beneficiary of two of these big buyers, while AMC bought a .tv (although it has the matching .com domain ... read more ...

Last week’s finish user domain name sales -
Athlon.com leads Sedo’s end user domain name sales.
Sedo sold about $1.2 million worth of domain names last week, highlighted by the six figure sale of Athlon.com.
Athlon.com is still in escrow, but I have a pretty good idea who the buyer is.
One other sale was notable not because of the dollar value, but because the sale was a trademark-matching domain for a $14.6 billion publicly traded company.

$25,000 new TLD sale among this week’s finish user domain name sales -
Travel company is among at least four end users who bought new TLDs at Sedo this past week.
There is an aftermarket for new top level domain names. It’s not huge, and few people are getting rich from it. But there is a market.

App builder spends $80k to dump “app” from domain name -
Ridescout pays big bucks for shorter domain name and other end user domain name purchases.
The .app domain name is coming. Until then, many app makers have plugged “app” onto the end of their domain names when they can’t get the .com domain that matches their app name.
Does the domain name still matter for app makers? Yes, judging by RideScout’s 60,000 euro purchase of RideScout.com last week. The Austin maker of the RideScout app for finding the best transportation ... read more ...

End users group to .co.uk domain names as second turn .UK names launch -
Good .co.uk domain names sell to end users who will be able to claim the matching .uk domains.
Sedo sold lots of good .co.uk domain names last week. I suspect this is because of the launch of second level .uk domain names. Owners of .co.uk domain names have first rights on the matching .uk domain name, and there’s been a lot of interest in the UK.

End users buy relating domains and domain hacks -
Many end user domain purchases this past week were for “matching” domains.
What strikes me about the latest list of end user domain name sales taking place at Sedo is the number of companies that are buying “matching” domains. They own a ccTLD and want the .com, or they own a .com and want the “hacked” version of a new TLD (e.g. the owner of EnglishClub.com buying English.club.) In some cases the buyers might look at these purchases as defensive plays. ... read more ...

Instead, this week’s top end user sale honors go to a new TLD. .Club sold Eat.Club $20,000 to employee meal catering company Eat Club, which has been using the domain name MyEatClub.com. I have to assume they tried to acquire EatClub.com as well. Was it more than ... read more ...
