Celebrity chef Paula Deen, who experienced a spectacular fall from grace last year over her prior use of racial slurs, is making a comeback with Paul Deen Ventures. She’s launching a subscription service called Paula Deen Network (PDN). She just made a smart move by buying the domain name PDN.com for $27,900, which is a heck of a deal.

Forward U.S. bought domain for $1,500 -
New immigration reform group bought .us domain for $1,500 at Sedo.
Forward U.S., the new immigration reform group led by companies including Facebook, Google, and PayPal, paid $1,500 for its domain name.The new immigration reform group that Ron Jackson wrote about last week paid $1,500 for FWD.us.

End users close deals before the new year.
A lot of small businesses buy domain names toward the end of the year. One reason is they want to get the purchase on this year’s books. That’s what one buyer told me the last week of December — “I’ll do it for this price if you can complete the sale by the end of the year for tax reasons”.

This week’s end user domain sales report includes a shop that’s probably at your local mall, a big online university, and cosmetics giant Loreal.

What domains a Kickstarter success, Christie’s and University of Oklahoma bought this week -
Company that raised $70k on Kickstart buys its company domain name.
This week’s end user domain name sales report includes some big names. Auction house Christie’s bought an Andy Warhol domain name, University of Oklahoma bought a four letter acronym, and a Kickstart success story bought its company domain name.

This week a .tv and a .me domain were amongst the best end user domain name sales.
But before we get into this week’s normal end user sales report, I want to call out a Slurl.
Divorce Detox bought the domain name divorcetherapist.com for $995 at Sedo.
Now, maybe it’s because of all the media attention to “legitimate rape” this week, but the first thing I read was “Divorce the Rapist dot com”.

Sedo has completed the sale of SC.com for $300,000, and it appears the buyer is Standard Chartered Bank. Standard Chartered provides banking services mostly in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The Standard Chartered Group was formed in 1969 through a merger of two banks: The Standard Bank of British South Africa founded in 1863 and the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, founded in 1853.
