This Weeks Top .CO Land Rush Domain Auctions Starting Now - Here is the second installment of the .CO Land Rush application starting the week of August 19th. You can see last weeks here (many of these auctions are still running) The number next to the domain, indicates how that particular domain ranks out of the 250 .CO domains haing the Most Land Rush Applications as reported to me by the .CO registry. So for example, topping this most “Land Rush .CO domains”, is the hack,  Tobac.co which ranks number 4 out of the 250 with the most Land Rush Applications. There ... read more ...

Let’s use Slots.co as an example, since it’s the domain with the most land rush applications, plus I’m in the auction because I put a land rush application in for that domain. e.Co Transfer Complete, .Co Landrush Auctions Begin - Big .co sale finally completed; landrush auctions begin. e.Co, which was auctioned for $81,000 in a charity auction in June, has finally changed hands. Although the whois for the domain name still shows CO Internet, the buyer has informed me that the domain name was transferred to his registrar account today and that he paid for the domain weeks ago. It will be interesting to see what the buyers have planned. In other .co news, the landrush auctions began today. ... read more ...

.Co Domain Tops 400,000 Registrations - Another milestone. What’s next? It has taken .co just two and a half weeks to hit a big milestone: today the .co domain name surpassed 400,000 domain name registrations according to the ticker on its web site. Although the rate of registrations will obviously slow over time, this is a fantastic launch. Including roughly 39,000 domains that were charged a premium in the sunrise period and landrush (but excluding auction fees), I calculate that consumers have paid ... read more ...

Shouldn’t Registrars At Least Mention That .Co Is The Country Code For Colombia? - I know .CO has done a great job of branding itself as something other than a country code, along the lines of .Me. Nothing wrong with that at all. Brilliant effective marketing. But I couldn’t help but notice that the major registrars promoting .CO domains don’t even mention that .Co is a ccTLD, or more precisely the country code for Colombia. Here is what Godaddy.com, has to say about .CO: “Co Is the first truly global, recognizable domain to come along in years” “Understood around the ... read more ...

.Co Is Now #2 On GoDaddy.com Drop Down Registration Menu Right Behind .Com: Who Is The Big Loser? - If you ever registered a domain name over at Godaddy.com you know that they have a drop down menu for extensions. So if you wanted to register a domain, you type the domain without the extension into the first box and then select the extension that you want in the second drop down box. Since Godaddy.com at last report was the registrar of choice for 50% of all new domain registrations, where an extension falls on the drop down menu is pretty important. At the moment Godaddy.com of course puts .com ... read more ...

Congratulations, .Co. Now a Real Work Begins. - Relaunch was successful, but hard work remains. It comes as little surprise to me, but it’s now apparent that the .co launch has been successful. As of now, 279,000 .co domain names have been registered. I calculate gross sales of about $19 million to date. There are a number of reasons I’m not surprised by the initial success of .co. I outlined many of these in my last newsletter. But regardless of how or why it has charged out of the gate, and regardless ... read more ...

195,000 .Co Registrations - Just got an email from the .CO registry, claiming almost 195,000 registrations have been processed through today (194,576 to be exact). This number is being updated on the registry site from time to time, and includes prior registrations as well as domains applied for during Sunrise and Landrush. Apparently there were 90,000 registrations in the first 15 minutes. This would make the .Co launch the most successful in many years. My.CO Powers .co Domain Name Registrations - Company offers way for non-.co-accredited registrars to sell .co registrations. One of the unique aspects of the launch of the .co domain name is that there are only ten domain name registrars accredited to sell the domains. This includes some big names such as Go Daddy, eNom, and Tucows. But that means that smaller registrars are shut out from selling .co domain names unless they strike a deal with one of the ten accredited registrars. That creates an interesting ... read more ...

E.CO Sells For $81K - The auction for the domain name E.CO just closed today on Sedo.com with a high bid of $81,000. I put the first bid in at $10K to get things rolling and then put another bid in at $25K. I think the domain is worth $100K or more to the right buyer especially following the news this week that  Twitter acquired T.CO. .Co Gets Big .Coup with Twitter - Twitter signs on to .co. .Co has pulled out all the stops in marketing its launch, and it got another big win today.
