It was only a bug: .Com by-pass is behind in iOS 9.2 - Shortcut that dissapeared with iOS 9.1 is back in iOS 9.2.
Last month I wrote about how Apple changed the functionality of the top level domain shortcut button on its keyboard for iPad devices.
When you press and hold the period “.” key, it brings up a list of top level domain name options. Previously, if you didn’t select anything and just released the key, .com was inserted by default.

.Com default disappears in iOS 9 on iPad - Keyboard loses its .com shortcut.
Something weird happened when I updated our iPads to iOS 9.1. I’m not sure if it is an intentional change or a bug.
Here’s the deal: When you press and hold the period “.” key on the iOS keyboard on an iPad, it no longer automatically inserts .com. Oddly, this behavior is different on the iPhone.

Apple Inc. Getting Ready To Use New .apple gTLD Domain Extension? - Apple Inc. has applied for the new gTLD .apple and the status is currently delegated. Apple Inc. also is going to own the new gTLD .beats since it acquired Beats Electronics, LLC.
On September 17, 2015 Apple Inc. has purchased 29 new .com domain names according to whois records and IMO, these domain name registrations appear to relate to what “will be” URL’s using the .apple gTLD as a typographical cover!

Apple Inc. Acquires 170 iCloud Domains From Xcerion - In April 2011 Apple Inc. reportedly paid $4.5 Million dollars for the one domain name iCloud.com from a company named Xcerion. Fast forward some 4 years later and now 170 iCloud related domains have transferred ownership from Xcerion to Apple Inc according to whois records.

PhoneArena.com reported that Apple lost a trademark case in the Philippines. Apple was not applying for a tm but rather objecting to a tm filing from Solid Broadband who was looking to get a tm for my|phone name.

Apple Inc. Wins AppleId.com and AppleAccount.com In UDRP - Apple Inc. has secured two domain names recently with two different UDRP filings on the domain names AppleID.com and AppleAccount.com .
AppleID.com
The AppleID.com domain name was registered on May 26, 2004 and was secured by Apple Inc. in a UDRP case #D2015-0582 with a status of “Terminated”. Apple Inc. Secures AppleID.com Domain Name - Apple Inc. has secured the domain name AppleID.com according to whois records from a Hiroshi Kaneko of Toyko. The domain name was registered May 26, 2004 and held the same registrant email ever since being created, which indicates that Hiroshi has owned the domain name ever since creation.

Australia Denies Apple’s Bid To Trademark “App Store” In Australia -
Jenni Ryall reported for Mashable that Australia has said no go to Apple trademarking the term “App Store” in Australia. This latest ruling was an appeal of their 2013 trademark attempt. The judge did not see app store as distinguishing itself to be Apple centric.

Chinese Government Launches Attack Against iCloud Users - According to Ars Technica it seems that China is running a man-in-the-middle attack on iCloud users. They have a screenshot of this on their website, this was discovered by a group called GreatFire.org.

Law Enforcement Is Not Happy With Apple’s New Privacy Policy -
Apple changed its privacy policy with iOS 8 and it has many in law enforcement up in arms. In an article on Mashable written by Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai, members of law enforcement expressed their displeasure with some saying that the new policy could cost lives. Patently Apple posted a piece about the USPTO refusing the trademark application of Apple for the term “Touch ID.” Apparently the application was denied over likelihood of confusion. The domain name TouchId.com is registered to a company in the Cayman Islands (Not Name Administration), it was registered 13 years ago. The domain is parked.

This company is based in Australia, not California.Apple introduced HealthKit, a sort of framework for health data on iOs devices, earlier this week.

In an article written by Chris Smith for BGR.com, it seems that a trademark registration filed by Brightflash USA LLC has the same address that Apple has used in the past when trademarking iSlate. The same address was used to register the Car Play trademark by a company called, Carplay Enterprises.

Apple, Yahoo and Google All Reserve The Right To Read Your Email - So there was a story out this week that Microsoft had read the emails of a French blogger who had received code from a former Microsoft employee, the employee has been arrested in Seattle, accused of leaking Windows 8 to the tech blogger.
The blogger actually contacted Microsoft to verify what was going on, Microsoft then went through his hotmail and messenger and found the email from the former employee.
