Domain Name Wire has learned that former Sedo domain name broker Frank Aiello has joined Domain Holdings.
Aiello left Sedo at the end of September. His LinkedIn page still shows that he was at Sedo for 1 year and two months.
Domain Holdings and PPX have hired a number of former Sedo brokers lately. Most recently, Domain Holdings hired former Sedo broker Ryan Colby as SVP of Product Management.

Godaddy Claims To Have Invented “Private Domain Registrations” - In an article published in the azcentral.com, Godaddy.com is claiming they invented the idea of a “Private Domain Registrations.”

Penicillin.com Sells For $30K; Codeine.com For $19K, Amphetamine.com For $14K ON NameJet All By 1 Bidder - Earlier today we wrote a post about generic drug domain name up for auction at NameJet.com and asked if any would sell.
Well three of the four did in fact sell.
And one bidder bought them all.
The bidder with the id of “goldmine” walked off with a virtual goldmine of generic drug domains.
Codeine.com Sold For $19K
Amphetamine.com sold for $14K
and penicillin.com which sold just over reserve at $30,300.
Tucows.com was the seller of all the domains.

WSJ.com GroupOn.com To Go Public Tomorrow during $20 Per Share - According to the Wall Street Journal, Groupon.com is going public tomorrow on the Nasdaq and is expected to be priced at $20 a share.
At $20 a share the company will carry a valuation of Groupon at nearly $13 billion.
The company plans on trading under the symbol; GRPN
Groupon is offering up to 34.5 million shares in its IPO, representing just 5.4% of the entire company’s 637.3 million shares outstanding.

Robert Edward Forchion, Jr., a self proclaimed “dedicated marijuana lover”, wanted to change his statutory name to NJWeedman.com. He has gone by the name NJWeedman for a while and operates a web site at NJWeedman.com.

Australian Domain Market Sees Volume from Yield Media Sales -
Some big ticket sales in .com.au.
The Australian domain name market is seeing some sales volume lately thanks to a 1,500 domain portfolio being put on the market.
The portfolio belonged to Yield Media, owned by the same company that owns domain name registrar Fabulous.
It’s being brokered by Ned O’Meara of DNTrade.com.au. Thanks to marketing on his forum he’s managed to sell 384 of the domain names over the past few weeks.

CADNA Goes From Opposing New gTLD Program To Demanding A Time Frame For Opening The 2nd Round - The Collation Against Domain Abuse (CADNA) has appearently gone from being a vocal opponent of the new gTLD program to demanding a timeline for opening of the second round.

Sedo Releases 3Q Sales & Reports Over $19 Million In Sales, But 93% of All Sales Were Under $5K - Sedo issued its 3rd quater report today ending on September 30, 2011.
In all almost 10K domain sold through their market place for over $19 Million in sales with the median price just under $2K.
86% of all sales were under $2,500 and 93% of all transactions were under $5,000.

21% were .de

Company continues to sell non-strategic domain names.
Marchex reported earnings after the bell today, including the sale of $2.5 million of “non-strategic” domain names during the third quarter.
Revenue was $39.9 million for the third quarter of 2011, compared to $24.2 million for the same quarter in 2010.
Marchex credits its burgeoning pay-per-call business for driving its growth.
