.XXX Adds Only 12,500 Registrations In January - The ICANN monthly reports are out for January and .XXX now has 119K registered domain names. In December, the ICANN report showed .XXX 106,500 registrations. In the January report the total number of pure registered .XXX domain names is 119,029. ICANN Report For Dec Is Out & 106,500 .XXX Domain Names Got Registered - The monthly ICANN Registry reports are now live for December and it shows that ICM registry the owners of the .XXX extension registered 106,549 domain names in its first month of operation. This 106,549 does NOT include those domain names registered by trademark holders under the “block” program (Sunrise B). .XXX Registrations Go On Sale For Two Weeks - It seems that the cost of registering a .XXX domain name is going on sale for a limited time at just a few registrars. Moniker.com just announced it was reducing the price of a .XXX registration from $98 to $69 from only Match 26th- April 9th a 30% savings. Compete.com Says XXX.com Traffic Doubled Since The .XXX Launch - With hundreds of new right of the dot, gTLD extensions being applied for, I though I would take a look at the most recent extension, .XXX and see what effect it was having on the traffic of XXX.com According to Compete.com traffic on XXX.com has doubled since the launch of the .XXX extension in December. Afilias: .XXX Breaks 200K Domains Under Management: A Look Inside The Numbers - According to Afilias the company that provides the back-end operations for the .XXX registry, .XXX broke 200,000 domain names under management today. Has .XXX Caused The Value Of Non.com Adult Domain To Decline? Shocker as Sexy.org Sells for $7,500 - Yesterday I saw the sale of the domain name Sexy.org cross the Sedo.com wire for a mere $7,500. Ouch. Sexy is without a doubt a great word for an adult or semi adult site. Its right below words like sex and porn and certainly well above 2% of the value of those words. It was just a few years ago that both sex.net and porn.net sold well into the six figures $425K and $350K if memory serves. .XXX LandRush/Sunrise Auctions Start Today - The auctions for Sunrise/Land Rush .XXX domain names started today. An auction was scheduled if more than 1 application was submitted either during the Sunrise or Land Rush period for the same .XXX domain. I do not believe ICM, the company that runs the .XXX Registry, has ever released a statement as to how many of domain names are in such auctions. cnet.com Chats About .XXX Domains & Gets It Wrong - Cnet.com just published an article about .XXX domain names chatting about what domain names were taken and which are still available. The problem is the article is incorrect.
