39 More New gTLD Pass Initial Evaluation As ICANN Gets Through The IDN’s - 39 more new gTLD’s passed ICANN Initial Evaluation (IE) today and more importantly ICANN has now gotten through all the IDN applications, meaning that next week non-IDN domain names for the first time will pass initial Evaluation. 39th New gTLD & 3rd IDN Application Withdrawn - Bridgestone Corporation has withdrawn an application for the new gTLD IDN string of 普利司通 with ICANN. The application which has a prioritization number of 1769. 4 More New gTLD’s Withdrawn: L’Oréal, American Heart Association & .Buy - 4 more new gTLD’s applications have been withdrawn bringing the total of withdrawn application to 38. The additional applications showing as being withdrawn as of tonight are: 欧莱雅 filed by L’Oréal with prioritization number of 72. Adweek: As New gTLD’s Roll Out “Marketers & Media Outlets Will Spend Millions” - In a new post by AdWeek.com entitled:  “Brands Facing Dot-Com Domain Identity Crisis. As Icann readies roll out, marketers and media outlets will spend millions” ” It all adds up to a 6,300% increase in web site domains.” I actually have never seen the new gTLD program expressed in terms of a percentage of increase in web addresses but its a pretty dramatic number.
