Endurance Files For $400M IPO: Buys Directi For $110M: Commits Up To $62 Million In New gTLD Auctions - As reported by Domainincite.com, Endurance International Group Holdings Inc, filed for an IPO to $400 million in an initial public offering of its common stock and plans on buying Directi for between $100 and $110 million Dollars. In buying Directi Endurance would also get Radix Registry which has 29 active new gTLD applications of which 26 are in contention.
Endurance is also committing an additional $62 Million dollars or over 2 million per contested string for auctions.

TechRadar Confuses A Pre-Reservation With An Actual Registration; Telling People new gTLD’s Can Be Registered Today - TechRadar.com covered the new gTLD program telling people that new gTLD are available to be registered now.
“New top-level domains now available”
“.online, .web, .ltd, .website, and .blog just some of the suffixes available”
The publication clearly has confused a pre-registration that many registrars and back order providers are offering with a domain registration.

ICANN Declares Initial Evaluation Of New gTLD’s Over But There Are 29 To Go Including .Search & .ABC - In a press release this afternoon ICANN proudly announced that the “Initial Evaluation (IE) phase of the new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) program is concluded.”

ANA: ICANN is Falling Short of the Mission to Protect Internet Security and Stability - The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) has just weighted in on the Name Collision issue in a in a letter sent to ICANN.
The title of the letter is “ICANN is Falling Short of its Mission to Protect Internet Security and Stability”

ICANN Approves $200 Million Dollar Budget For 2014; 306 Employees & Still No Revenue From New gTLD Auctions - ICANN just approved its 2014 budget which is coming in at over $200,000,000 in revenue.
The budget anticipates ICANN staff growing to over 300 people but the real kicker, in our opinion is that ICANN still has virtually no revenue allocated coming in from the “Last Resort” New gTLD auctions.

ICANN Corrects Friday’s New gTLD Initial Evaluation Posting: Taipei Is Eligible for Extended Evaluation -
On Friday in releasing its Initial Evaluation results ICANN mistakenly showed that the new gTLD application for the Geographic area of .Taipei failed IE and was not eligible for Extended Evaluation.
However today ICANN has correct what was an error on their part and is showing the application for the new gTLD application .Taipei is in fact eligible for extended evaluation.
The application for .Taipei was submitted by the Taipei City Government.

Russian Registrar Regtime Ltd. Lose Two Legal Rights Objections To PIR’s .OPR & .Verisign’s .KOM - Regtime Ltd. and Legato Ltd of the Russian Federation just lost two separate Legal Rights Objections at WIPO on the new gTLD strings .OPR and .KOM
In The .OPR case the company objected to the Public Interest Registry (PIR) application of .OPR.
PIR operates the .Org registry.
The second objection was to Verisign’s new gTLD application for .Kom which is the more interesting decision in my opinion.

Vipspace Enterprises LLC Withdraws Application For new gTLD .VIP: Now 118 Withdrawn New gTLD Apps - Vipspace Enterprises LLC of Munich Germany has become the latest company to withdraw its application for the new gTLD .VIP.
The application had a prioritization number of 1,804 meaning that after next week’s Initial Evaluation release by ICANN the maximum refund would have only been 35% but now the applicant gets a 70% refund.
Vipspace becomes the 1st applicant for the .VIP new gTLD to withdraw their application.

Napa Wine Association Letter to ICANN Makes It Clear They Should Have Applied For .Napa/.Wine Instead Of Just Whining - After reading the letter sent by Bruce Cakebread telling ICANN how the 500 members of the Napa Valley Vintners need protection from the new proposed gTLD’s of .Wine and .Vin, I walked away thinking that the wine producers of Napa simply missed their chance to apply for .Napa and/or .Wine and now just want to whine about it.

ICANN Screwed Up By Not Requiring Joining All Objections By One Objector Against a Same String Into 1 Proceeding - Last nights news that a International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) panelist ruled (pdf) that .cam and .com are too confusingly similar to coexist after two different panels ruled days earlier that the strings were not similar confusing, shouldn’t be a huge surprise to anyone in the domain space.
