Mark Monitor group acquires retail domain name.
Based on whois records, it appears that Marchex has sold the domain name TheRack.com.
My money is on Nordstrom buying it for its Nordstrom Rack outlet stores, sometimes called “The Rack”.
Although the whois information for the domain shows Name Advisers Inc. as the owner, Name Advisers is affiliated with brand protection registrar Mark Monitor. Nordstrom uses Mark Monitor for its domain names.

SEC filing details plans for spin-off of domain business.
Later this year, Marchex hopes to spin off its pay-per-click and domain name business into a new publicly traded business called Archeo. It will trade on the NASDAQ under the ticker ACHX.
It released more information about Archeo in a June 7 SEC filing.

Marchex sells 50 domains for $1.4 million – here are a tip 20 -
Company reports improved domain name sales compared to previous quarter.
Marchex’s Archeo, Inc. sold 50 domains in the first quarter of this year for a total of $1.4 million.
Archeo, Inc. is the domain name division of Marchex, which the company hopes to soon spin off into its own publicly traded company.

Last month Procter Gamble became one of the largest companies to be found guilty of reverse domain name hijacking after losing a domain dispute for Swash.com.

Marchex domain sales dump in Q4, $6.3 million for a year -
A look at Archeo’s revenue numbers.
Marchex just reported earnings for Q4 2012 and the full year.
It sold just $863,000 worth of domain names last quarter, which gave it $6.3 million in domain sales for the year.
Had it already been spun out, its Archeo domain name and directory business would have generated $5.5 million in revenue last quarter without domain sales, which was about the same as the prior quarter.

Travel domain sells for $50,000 to lead Go Daddy sales last month.
Go Daddy Auctions is reporting 32,767 domain names sold in December.
The top sale was VisitSanFrancisco.com, a domain sold by Marchex. The $50,000 purchase was made by San Francisco Travel Association, which owns SanFrancisco.travel.

Marchex has successfully defended the domain name EuroBaby.com in a URDP proceeding brought by an Irish company.

Marchex finish user sales, partial one -
20 big end user domain sales courtesy of Marchex.
Marchex’ release of a list of its top 500 domain names sales of all time last week gave data junkies like me fresh data to sort through.
I do a weekly end user sales report, and I thought it would be interesting to check which of Marchex’ sales were to end users.

Marchex just released earnings for its second quarter.
Most notable to the domain name industry is that the company had a record quarter for domain name sales — $3.3 million.

Marchex Shares Down 40% In 3 Months -
Marchex gets smacked around in the stock market.
The stock market isn’t showing any love to Marchex, one of the world’s largest holders of domain names.
Shares closed today at just $6.38, down nearly 40% from their $10.57 opening price on August 15.
This is despite the company topping both earnings and revenue estimates for the third quarter in earnings released November 2.
