How could they do this to our child, a big Narnia fan? We only registered it for a personal e-mail address. What horrible big money machine would come after us poor saps?

ICANN creating contingency plan for registry failure.
We’ve seen domain registrars, such as RegisterFly, lose their accreditation. But what happens when a domain registry that manages an entire top level domain (TLD) goes out of business?
This isn’t a far-fetched situation. Tralliance, the registry for .travel, almost when kaput last year. And with perhaps hundreds of new registries forming over the coming years as ICANN relaxes its restrictions for new top ... read more ...

ICANN Fee Rule Change Won’t End Domain Tasting, Frontrunning -
ICANN’s recent rule change will have mixed results.
ICANN recently moved a step further to changing how it handles refunds for domain names in conjunction with the registry. Currently, ICANN charges a 20 cent fee per domain name registered. With the new rules, the 20 cent fee won’t be refundable after a registrar ... read more ...

How Can A .xxx/.sex Extension Be OK Now? - I have read hundreds of stories about ICANN voting to allow the creation of an unlimited amount of domain extensions in the mainstream media. Each and everyone of these article talks about an adult extension .xxx/.sex or some other version as a foregone conclusion in terms of popularity among users and applicants.
The question is how can ICANN approve an adult extension now having turned down .xxx three times already?
On March 30, 2007, just over a year ago, ICANN rejected the .xxx extension for ... read more ...

What Does ICANN’s ‘Yes’ Vote Mean to You? Not Much. -
ICANN’s decision to liberalize the process for adding new TLDs won’t have much of an affect on you, unless you manage trademarks.
Today ICANN voted to liberalize the process and acceptance of new top level domains (similar to .info and .asia). What does this mean to the average domainer and internet user? Despite the mainstream media sensationalizing this (.sex is coming!), I doubt it will add up to much.
