Manwin Amends Complaint Against ICM & ICANN & Drops 2 State Claims & Talks Of Settlement - According to a Press Release by Manwin Licensing International, they filed an amended complaint in its lawsuit for antitrust violations against the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and ICM Registry (ICM). FCC Commissioner Warns Of Treaty That Would Move Control Over Domains From ICANN To The UN & Worse - In a op-ed piece written by Robert M. Update On Manwin Vs ICM on .XXX: Motions To Dismiss Off The Calendar: Settlement Talks Underway? - In the ongoing lawsuit that Manwin filed against ICM Registry and ICANN over the .XXX TLD,  the parties today entered into a joint stipulation that allows Manwin to file an amended complaint by January 17th and gives ICM 60 days to file a response to the complaint. ICANN: Some New gTLD’s Will Be Approved Late This Year & Be Live In Early 2013 - ICANN has just published an announcement that it expects that some new gTLD’s to be approved late this year and be live in early 2013. Despite $100M Dollar Budget, ICANN Calls For Volunteers - In an announcement just issued by ICANN (pdf) they are calling for volunteers to “assist in the evaluation of those organizations seeking financial support to apply for a new generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD).” Hum ICANN has budgeted some $100 Million dollars from incoming application fees from the new gTLD program and they are asking people to volunteer their time to evaluate applicants seeking financial support. Beckstrom Tells USA TODAY On New gTLD’s: “We’re improving Internet Domain Space” - In an OpEd piece published by USA Today, the CEO of ICANN Rod Beckstrom says of the new gTLD program that “It will create space on the Internet that is more secure than what exists today.” “Applicants will undergo criminal background checks, financial evaluations and challenging technical assessments. ICANN’s Beckstrom Update On New gTLD Program - I just listened in to a call with the CEO of ICANN Rod Beckstrom, on an update on the new gTLD program  he gave to some bloggers. “For us, No news is good news, things are running smoothly we have not encountered any major technical or service issues.” Beyond that Mr. Beckstrom was unwilling to give any updated numbers in terms of the number of applications submitted or the number of companies that had paid the $5,000 for the spot to file and application. US Department Of Commerce: We May Look At The New gTLD Program Once Application Period Is Closed - In a letter tonight sent by Larry Strickling of the US Department of Commerce to the ICANN chairman Steve Crocker,  the Commerce Department says its going to examine the new gTLD program after the application period closes and ICANN discloses the list of applicants on May 1st. ICANN Publishes It’s Annual Report & Reports $100 Million In Assets - ICANN just published its annual report for 2011 and god bless, in the worst economy of our lifetimes they manged to get up to just short of $100 Million in assets; cash, investments and accounts receivable for the year ending June 30, 2011. According to the report as of June 30, 2011, ICANN has over $29 Million in Cash, $51 Million in investments and over $15 Million in accounts receivable,  and with some other assets all totaled, just short of $100 Million dollars.
