.Eco crook files heading focus for .Eco - What is planet.ECO up to with its latest trademark filing?
A company that appears to be out of the running for the .Eco top level domain name has filed an intent-to-use trademark application for “.Eco”.
planet.ECO LLC was one of four applicants for the .Eco top level domain name. Rival applicant Big Room won a Community Priority Evaluation for .Eco, meaning it will get rights to run the domain name exclusively.

.Eco applicant prevails with its own definition of the eco community; .gay and .music applicants don’t.
Three more Community Priority Evaluation decisions for new top level domain names have been completed.
.Eco applicant Big Room Inc has succeeded in getting community status by earning the minimum required 14 of 16 points. This means that applicants Donuts, Minds + Machines and Planet Dot Eco are no longer in the running for the domain name.

planet.ECO loses conflict opposite TLDH for .eco tip turn domain name -
TLDH gets a victory in fight over .eco.
The latest salvo in the fight for the .eco top level domain name has been successfully defended by Top Level Domain Holdings.
A World Intellectual Property Organization panel denied planet.ECO, LLC’s Legal Rights Objection against TLDH for .eco.
planet.ECO has a U.S. trademark for .eco, which was granted because the applicant shielded the fact that it was to be used for a top level domain name.

.Green gets corner on .eco in new TLD priority draw -
.Green draws are better overall, but that doesn’t mean it will come to market first.
When ICANN planned “digital archery” to determine the order in which it would review top level domain applications, there was a benefit to applying for a domain other people were applying for: all applications would be moved up in the queue to the top spot in the contention set.

New TLD Battle: .Eco vs. .Green -
TLDH hedges its bets with .green bid.
On May 7 I tweeted:
The answer is “yes”.
Top Level Domain Holdings, one of the companies embroiled in a battle over .eco, has applied for .green. It could merely be a calculated bet by TLDH given the potential for a hold up on .eco. .Eco has long been contested, has a trademark fight, and is now in court.

When I wrote my tongue-in-cheek guide on how to my .Eco a success, I joked:
Make sure the other side doesn’t decide to just get .green instead. You need to get their heads stuck on .eco. If they opt for .green, you could have long term competition. And that’s not what this is about; you need to get a monopoly TLD.
I should have done some fact checking, because, buried beneath all of the hoopla around .eco, a group has announced .green.
