Afternic has sold Vertigo.com for $50,000.
The domain had received previous bids of up to $10,500, but on May 19 Vertigo Software decided to seal a deal and bid $50k. Vertigo Software is a Microsoft-based development and consulting company.
This is just one of many high profile domain names that sold over the past week. You may have heard that The Tribune Company bought ForSaleByOwner.com. It’s a full web site, but the domain name ForSaleByOwner.com sold for $835,000 in the height of the dot.com boom.
According to DNJournal, Scouts.com sold for $107,000 in a private sale. GoDaddy’s TDNAM sold a hotels.com typo, hottels.com, for $27,000. This might be TDNAM’s biggest sale ever. Most auctions at TDNAM finish for well under $1,000 (and many of these are expiring domain auctions). DNJournal also reported a strong Canadian domain, Retirement.ca, sold for 23,000 CAD in a private sale.
