Verisign drives new registrations, grows overall base in .com and .net.
Verisign reported earnings this afternoon, and disclosed that it handled 9.2 million new .com and .net registrations in Q3. The number of new registrations per quarter is typically in the 8-9 million range.
On its investor conference call today, Verisign executives said the growth was driven internationally, particularly in Asia (including China and India). The company expects the pace of activity in the 3rd quarter to slow sequentially in Q4.
When considering expirations, that nets out to 1.68 million net new names during the third quarter, ending with 135.2 million .com and .net domain names.
The second quarter .com and .net renewal rate (which can’t be measured yet for Q3) was 72.7%.
Verisign’s Q3 revenue was $266 million with $92 million net income.
