An unwise typo domain purchase.
This domain name auction, which concluded earlier today, begs two questions:
1. Do domain parkers click on ads when they accidentally stumble across a parked page?
2. Who would be stupid enough to shell out $2,250 on a domain that they’ll lose through arbitration?
Update 3/23: I received a note from Sedo today that the transaction was canceled. With regards to the comments below about allowing sales like this to happen, my experience with Sedo is they’ll take these auctions down in a heartbeat if you notify them. They also monitor auctions, but occasionally miss some.]

Looks like it dropped and was re-registered just 2 weeks ago.
11 bidders total huh…
Maybe oversee.net won it?!
Maybe one of their “clients” who is really generous who plans to donate this to them? :p
Domainer says
If you look at the domain history, in 2005 – 2006 it was pointed towards DS.
It looks like through-out 2007 Enom tasted it.
Dropped it and tasted it again for a couple days in 2008.
Someone tasted for a short period in August, 2008.
Someone from China reg’d it 3 weeks ago and sold it a week later to the present owner.
Maybe, it is one of those non-paying bidders?
Domainer says
As Mike said, maybe it is DS.
Maybe, they figure $ 2,250 is cheaper than UDRP with the legal fees.

There will come a time when someone is stupid enough to buy something like this, then have it WIPO’d away …
That domainer then turns around and sues Sedo for facilitating a sale of a TM typo…
and wins.
Until that happens, Sedo, NameJet, Pool, Snap will just go on and list and auction and sell these domains as if nothing is wrong with it and every thing is fine.
Playing dumb can only last so long.
Watch it. It’s coming. Someone is going to get slapped so hard when they wake up their clothes will be out of style.
While the money is good, lets just carry on as business as usual. Let’s go ahead and beg for FTC and DoC to take over where ICANN and the entire industry has failed.
And Sedo has the nerve to blacklist some domains from parking.
What balls.

Every auction company stops auction if gets request from TM holder. Happens regulary at Snapnames…

I thought I saw a similar one on Sedo the other day as well. Something like wwwdomainsponsor.com .
I agree, these auction houses need some blame for selling these trademarks.

This issue is just another example of why the very few and in between pro’s get the name cybersquatter stamped on there back.
Sometimes TM problems come out of the dark.
But this example is just straight out obvious.

I saw that auction and thought Sedo REALLY dropped the ball on this one.
Good to hear it was resolved.
Unfortunately, many more blatant and fringe TMs continue to filter through daily at each and every auction house.
