Deal resolves contention sets for .fit, .review, and .science.
Top Level Domain Holdings (AIM: TLDH) and Famous Four Media (and associated companies) have made a deal to resolve three contention sets.
Under the terms of the deal, Famous Four has withdrawn its application for .fit, leaving TLDH as the only applicant for the string.
In return, TLDH has withdrawn its applications for .review and .science. Famous Four will pay a royalty to TLDH on .review revenue.
This seems like a creative solution that’s also easy for ICANN to handle as the ownership structure of the applications doesn’t change. Striking deals like this is easier in the case of strings with only two applicants. TLDH and its clients have seven remaining contention sets in which there’s only one competitor.
TLDH is now involved with 23 uncontested applications, 15 of which are wholly or majority owned by the company.
