Jamie says
I thought they weren’t publishing sales any longer?
Andrew Allemann says
@ Jamie – NameMedia has only been publishing select sales for a while. About 4-5 months ago they started only publishing “representative” sales, such as 5-10 domains a week. It seems that they are occasionally expanding beyond that now.
Jamie says
Thanks for the update Andrew. I just remember Michael B posting that they would no longer be reporting sales of domain names they owned and just a couple I checked in your list, they owned. 🙂
Here is the posting for reference. http://www.thedomains.com/2010/08/26/buydomains-stops-reporting-sales-of-owned-operated-domains/
But Why says
Andrew–do you know specifically why they (and any others) have so reduced their reported sales?
The only answer I ever see give / reported is along the lines of, “for competitive reasons.”
Andrew Allemann says
@ But Why – I can see a number of competitive reasons why they might not want to share that data. I bet it also alleviates the common headache of releasing a sale, only to find out the buyer or seller didn’t want it made public. A few years ago NameMedia didn’t disclose any of its sales.
But Why says
“I can see a number of competitive reasons why they might not want to share that data.”
Which specifically are . . .
Thanks!
