Company releases names of 13 applications.
This morning Paul Sloan broke the news that STRAAT investments, parent company of .Co Internet, applied for 13 top level domain names.
The company just released the list:
.APP
.BOOK
.CORP
.DESIGN
.GMBH
.GROUP
.INC
.LAW
.LLC
.LTD
.MOVIE
.TECH
.WEB
Many — if not all — of these will be in contention with other applicants. Interestingly, the company believes that auctions won’t be necessary for these domains because all applicants will be “equally motivated to focus their resources on operating the extensions, minimizing risk, and improving the underlying economics.”
STRAAT will work with Neustar as its backend registry provider. Neustar already provides registry services for .co.
If there’s any company that understands the current landscape for launching an unrestricted top level domain, it’s this team. They’ve put millions of dollars into marketing .co over the past few years and know what works and what doesn’t. Of course, this time around they’ll be competing against a lot of other new extensions.

I hope that some begin to see the light; gTLDs of that caliber are like subdomains, e.g. llc.usa.com, design.eu.com etc.
The problem is that when you subdivide professionals into entities, e.g. smiths.law and parkinson.llc the impact of the brand spreads very thin. It will become evident a few months from now.

I’m not a huge fan of these .llc and .inc ideas, but one nice thing is they have a built in lead source for registrants: corporation filings in each state.

Despite of negative feedback from other domainers. I will gladly spare few hundreds to register few keywords using the new suffixes.
.LLC is appealing to my business.

What time it will be announce?
I'll give you $100 for that domain!!! says
Good luck. They’ll need it, because even cash can’t float this ship.

IMHO the .INC extension will have some appeal. Probably less than one million SLDs but still commercially viable.
