Trademarking Living and Lifestyle.
Scripps Networks Interactive, through its top level domain name company Lifestyle Domain Holdings, has filed for U.S. trademarks matching a number of the top level domain names it will run.
The company filed multiple trademark applications for “Living”, “Lifestyle” and “Vana”, which all match new top level domain names.
There are four intent-to-use trademarks for each word, the only difference being the goods and services descriptions. One description reads:
Domain name registration services; Providing online social networking services for purposes of commentary, comparison, collaboration, consultation, evaluation, advice, discussion, research, notification, reporting, identification, information sharing, indexing, information location, entertainment, pleasure, or general interest; Online social networking services provided through a community website
The other three for each word don’t mention domain names. The different classes of services may have been selected for the other applications because the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office won’t grant a trademark for a top level domain.
In other TLD trademark news, some guy in Florida applied for a mark for .God for a new TLD. The application will be denied.
