With the likelihood that New Orleans won’t be able to support pro sports teams a year from now, more permanent plans are being made for the city’s two professional sports teams: Saints football and Hornets basketball. But if you want to snag a domain for potential new cities you’re already too late.
San Antonio is seen as a likely home for the Saints, who are playing some games there this season. SanAntonioSaints.com is registered, and so are all of the other major extensions. Interestingly, SanAntonioSaints.com was registered in May before hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. But the other extensions have been registered by people over the past couple months as the likelihood of the Saints staying in San Antonio grew. SAsaints.com was also registered before the hurricane (yes, rumors of the Saints leaving New Orleans broke even before the city was underwater). A message at SAsaints.com reads:
SASaints.com
Oh when the Saints come marching in.
They can buy this domain name.
SAsaints.info, SAsaints.biz, and SAsaints.us are available (or where when I wrote this post!)
Another city that might take the Saints in the long run is LA. Given that Louisiana’s state abbreviation is LA, LAsaints.com was registered a long time ago.
As for the Hornets, they are rumoured to go to Oklahoma City. OKhornets.com has apparently been registered on behalf of the team’s owner. Other extensions are still available.
Of course there’s no guarantee that the teams will keep their names when they move.
