Domain sells during DOMAINfest auction in Amsterdam.
Oversee.net’s DOMAINfest conference held its first live auction, and Poker.de went home the big winner. The domain sold for 695,000 Euros (approximately $940,000 USD). This may be the highest price ever paid for a country code domain name. .De is the country code for Germany. It’s the second most registered domain behind .com.
Earlier this month the domain name Poker.com reportedly received two or more offers over $20M in conjunction with Moniker’s Casino auction, but there are concerns over ownership rights of the domain name. Moniker did strike gold, however, with Porn.com, which it helped sell for a reported $9.5M in cash this week.
In other domain sales news, Sedo has several three character .com domain names at auction in five-figure territory. An auction for BCF.com ends later today and is currently $40,000 with 44 bids. CLK.com ends in three days and is currently $15,000 with 44 bids as well. LCR.com still has 12 days to go but is up to $14,501. QIR.com has two days to go and is at 2,100 EUR.
Sedo also has some good one word domains in its auctions. Scrolls.com has a single bid at $8,000, Removed.com is at $5,000 (reserve not met), and Equator.com is currently $13,500.
By the way, if Poker.de was a bit out of your price range, PokerFun.de is on auction at Sedo right now. It will only set you back 100 EUR.
