After a three day absense, clients gain full access to accounts.
Client access to domain name parking company Parked is back online after a three day outage. On Friday afternoon, Parked experienced difficulties with its backend servers, according to a message on its web site:
On Friday afternoon, we noticed a problem with one of primary backend servers that processes and stores all of our finalized stats. At that time we decided to bring the server down to try and fix the problem that we were noticing.
Since that time we have been working around the clock to fix the problems, unfortunately they are taking longer than we originally expected. All of your domains are still working fine, and all of your stats are being collected and stored. Some of us have been working on the problem around the clock for more than 48 hours now and we hope to have the problem resolved soon.
Even though you have not lost any revenue because of this situation, we will be compensating you for the extensive downtime.
It’s important to note that all domains were still working and revenue was tracked. The only downside was the inability to login and edit/add domains. Parked did a good job handling this situation:
1. Working around the clock, Parked sent emails to clients with their daily stats.
2. Parked will provide some sort of compensation to clients even though the domains worked as usual.
Parked has a history of taking care of customers. In July they sent a payment a couple days late due* in part to a U.S. holiday. The company compensated customers with a 5% bonus, which equates to about a 900% interest rate without compounding.
*Parked pays net 7 twice a month, which is about 30 days earlier than many other parking companies.
