Coke makes you say Ahh.
I took a mini-vacation to San Antonio with my family this week, including a trip to Six Flags. It was there that I was reminded of one of my favorite uses of a three letter domain name: Ahh.com.
It’s not the usual use of a three letter domain name (acronyms). It’s not a word. Heck, it probably even fails the radio test.
Yet the promotional site for Coke is a great use of a three letter domain name.
They actually use a bunch of similar domains, but many of them would certainly fail the radio test, recall test, etc., including:
ahhhhhh.com
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.com
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.com.
I’m not kidding on any of those. They use them all.
Ahh.com isn’t my favorite use of a three letter domain (that would be DNW.com), but it’s certainly up there.

AHH.com is doubly interesting. Not just a great billboard slogan, AHH.com functions as a website for distinctive ongoing marketing.

I think domain names will increasingly be used in marketing.

I think so too. However, I find that when an agency creates an ad the URL is not prominent enough. It is usually only at the bottom of the billboard or TV screen; it is not bold or ‘loud’. Guys remember ther are millions of people with smartphones in hand who are itching to go to a new http://www.site. At the end of the TV ad give them a big, bold URL, that lasts longer than two measly seconds; also on a billboard use the damn URL; big and bold.
