Go Daddy is paying for domain sales even faster than promised.
It had been a couple months since I sold a Go Daddy Premium Listing, but over the past couple weeks I’ve sold two domains.
These were the first domains I’ve sold with Go Daddy since it sped up the payment process. I’m happy to report that it paid even faster than promised.
The first sale was on December 17. That particular domain sold through Go Daddy auctions rather than the registration path. That comes with a lower commission (10%) but the promised payment schedule is slower. According to Go Daddy, payments for Premium Listings that sell on Go Daddy auctions for under $1,000 are disbursed 21 days after the buyer pays.
I was paid just one week later, on December 25. And although it wasn’t an instant transfer sale, Go Daddy took care of the transfer automatically.
The second sale was a regular Premium Listing sale on December 24.
Go Daddy says these are paid after a five day hold. Instead, I was paid just 2 days later — on December 26.
Even better, the payments were sent via PayPal so I don’t have to wait for a paper check.
I’m not sure if Go Daddy will always pay faster than promised, but even if it merely meets its promised timelines it’s a big improvement.

Nice to hear! Unfortunately, any sales that happened just before the change in mid-November are paying on the old schedule – we’re still waiting for a check which won’t be coming until mid-January for a sale on November 12th.
I’m glad they’ve finally gotten with the times and gone to a quicker pay schedule for sales moving forward.

Hi, can i know how much you priced for the two domains? Mid $xxx or High $xxx? And how is the turnover rate % for your domains in GD? Thanks.
GD need to fix their 30%, $5000 sale will only take home $3500. Huge $1500 gone.

@ Michael – one was $500 and the other $850. I only have a few hundred domains at Go Daddy, so I don’t have a big enough sample size.
I’d consider what you want your take home to be, and then price your domains so you get what you want after the 30%.

I had one sale that was in my account in 2 days, blazing fast, commission of 30% is still steep, 20% is more fair.

“We deduct a 30 percent commission from the sale price of your Premium Listing”
It is good that they finally got around to a faster payment process that the other sales sites have been doing for years.
But, I still consider 30% commission abusive.
Meyer says
I understand just building the cost into the price of the domain.
It use to annoy me in the corp. world when one employee would say to another employee – ” I know it is expensive but why do you care, the company is paying for it.”

I guess it’s because you are the payee.

One of my domains was sold last week through the registration path and I got paid two days later which is great!
I agree with others about the commission though, 20% will sound a lot better.
