Watch out for April Fools’ jokes.
Psst. Be careful what you read on the web today and tomorrow.
April Fools’ Day is full of bogus stories on the web. Even though it’s still March 31 in North America, many parts of the world have already started April 1. So if you’re reading a domain name article today that seems too crazy to be true, it’s probably made up.
Over the years a number of domain name forum and blog posts have taken advantage of peoples’ gullibility. Last year one such post said Domain Name Wire had been sold. Even six months later I had someone ask me what I was doing now that I sold the site. For the record, I don’t write April Fools stories on Domain Name Wire.
Of course, with all of the zany news in the domain name world today, don’t discount something you read just because it might be a joke. Especially if it’s about Sex.com: the unbelievable might just be true.
John says
Lol how fun of you ;|
Adam says
spoiler!! boooooo
reporter says
Is it true you are in talks with Murdoch?
Attila says
So Mann isn’t donating his portion of sex.com to group PETA ?
Andrew Allemann says
@ Attila – that wasn’t an April Fools’ joke, although it sort of was because it will never happen
Attila says
oh, damn..I didn’t know the guy was serious. I figured since it was close to April 1st it might be one of those publicity stunts…
If I were wealthy, I’d just go to them and be like, here is 25 million, everyone happy?
I would make sex.com the next go daddy and upsell anything and everything, including domains, haha!!
DNW, can I sell you too on there when the date reaches April first?
