Company buys two .xyz domain names after Google increases awareness of the domain.
Want an example of how awareness can propel new top level domain aftermarket sales? An enterprise software company bought Customer.xyz and Customers.xyz, presumably after hearing that Google chose abc.xyz for its new holding company domain name.
These domains were two of the 461 transactions on Sedo’s domain name sales platform for the past week. Other buyers include a satellite company, a staffing company and a company creating vaccines for cancer.
Here’s the list:
Previous weeks’ lists can be found here. If you’d like to learn how to sell your domain names through Sedo, Andrew Allemann has written this downloadable guide.

Anticareer says
The .xyz domains sold for less than 1% of what the .com would have sold for (probably close to half of one percent) and that is for a strong keyword.
Have people looked at ABC.XYZ? It is a one page site with one link to their .com. Saying that Google is “using” a .xyz domain is a very loose interpretation based on the site that is up there.
Joseph Peterson says
Gainsight is an excellent brand name, blending a pair of positive words: “insight” and “gain”. They already own Gainsight.com as well.
Maybe they’ll put up a separate page on Customer(s).xyz. Maybe they just bought these as a knee-jerk reaction to the buzz about Google.
Hopefully they’re not rebranding. If so, they’d be moving from a very distinctive, very appropriate identity to just another “Customer(s)” domain, lost in a sea of hundreds of “Customer(s)” + nTLD domains. In that case, they’d be defined largely by .XYZ and not by the word “Customer(s) at all.
