Five years later, DOMAINfest returns to Barcelona.
DOMAINfest returns to Barcelona next week, the home of its first ever conference in 2006.
But the conference running June 7-9 will look very different from five years ago.
After a series of successful conferences and a return to Europe last summer, DOMAINfest has grown into the most attended conference on the domain circuit. Its main event in L.A. each year draws 600-700 attendees.
The European shows are a smaller, and Oversee.net VP of Marketing Aaron Kvitek told me today he expects 150-175 attendees at next week’s show.
The focus will also be on the European market.
“We go out of our way to find speakers and panelists that have a strong European base of knowledge,” Kvitek said. “We want to tailor the content toward issues, concerns and needs of the European audience.”
But he stressed that the programming is also valuable for non-European domainers, especially those interesting in finding a way to tap into worldwide opportunity.
The agenda is certainly full of European influence. Wednesday morning kicks off with domain attorney Paul Keating, who now resides in Barcelona. There will also be a panel on ccTLDs as well as experts from the European SEO community. One very interesting presentation will be from Dr. Harry Brignull, who explains what he calls “dark patterns” in user interface design.
Panels will be slightly different from previous shows. Each panelist will give a five minute presentation before sitting down for Q&A with the audience.
As with last year’s event in Prague, the activities switch to purely social and networking on the last day of the event.
The event will be in English. English to Spanish translators will be available during Wednesday’s educational programming.
Admission is still available for $795 for a full conference pass. One day pass are available for Wednesday priced $295 for day activities and $495 for day and evening.
