Domain Name Wire hit the two year milestone last month.
I was scrolling through Domain Name Wire’s archives yesterday when I noticed that the monthly archives list in the left column was getting rather long. 25 months long, in fact. March marked Domain Name Wire’s second anniversary of bringing you domain name news.
A lot has happened in the domain name world since I first got started about a decade ago. Much of this activity has occurred in the past two years. Since March 2005 we’ve seen a host of new portfolio acquisition companies with $100M bankrolls enter the market. We’ve seen over a dozen domain name parking companies join (and leave) the game. We’ve seen big sales like Vodka.com for $3M and we’ve experienced $5M domain name auctions. Just recently we experienced the first implosion of an ICANN accredited-registrar. The mainstream media started to pick up on domain names recently. Books are being written about the industry. Thousands of people are waking up to the value of virtual real estate.
So what’s next? 936 articles later (make that 937), Domain Name Wire continues to bring the latest news to everyone involved in the domain name industry: investors, lawyers, domain owners, service providers, the media. Domain Name Wire will continue to tell it how it is. No fluff. Not just the good news, but the bad news as well. (But hopefully more of the former.)
Thanks for your continued support.
