DNJournal posted domain name sales for the past two weeks…and the domain name market shows no signs of cooling off.
There were 3 reported 6-figure sales over the past two weeks:
-Chris Chena (see previous news about Chris Chena) picked up Dominio.com (‘domain’ in Spanish) for $120k.
–EQ.com sold for $100k on Afternic.
-Mueller.com sold for $100k on Sedo.
Some of the more interesting sales were of .TV domains, which historically haven’t sold well. Here are the .TV domains that sold:
-Travel.tv $65,000 at GreatDomains
-Mail.tv $35,000 at GreatDomains
-Umwelt.tv €1,500 at Sedo
-Vice.tv $3,500 at Afternic
The sudden upsurge in .TV sales might have something to do with IPTV, which is on the horizon for the next few years. Since IPTV integrates computing and TV, it’s possible that the channels of the future will be web addresses.
Scuba.ws sold for $650 at Sedo. I’ve been loading up on keyword .ws domains, adding domains like support.ws, beds.ws, and revenue.ws to my collection. Don’t underestimate the value of good single keyword domains, regardless of domain extension.
There were so many notable .com sales that you should just check out the list here.
On the New TLD side, my purchase of Deals.biz for €1,300 landed in the #3 position. I’m currently working on developing Deals.biz, which will put a new twist on coupon code sites.
