Sale of ABL.com headlines sales week at Sedo.
Fresh off a million dollar sales week, domain broker Sedo is keeping the momentum alive despite not completing any six figure transactions over the past week.
The top sale for the week was ABL.com for $50,000. The seller was ABL Research, Inc. of Duluth, Georgia. The buyer appears to be Allied Bank of Pakistan, which has used the domain name ABL.com.pk for its web presence. The latest balance sheet for the bank show it has 334 billion rupees in assets.
Sedo sold two other three letter dot com domain names: GIW.com for $13,500 and FYC.com for $7,500.
Here are other notable sales for the week:
towelbars.com 12,000 USD
shlomo.com 10,000 USD
fyc.com 7,500 USD
newyorkers.com 5,100 USD GreatDomains
turbopoker.com 5,000 USD
investorflow.com 5,000 USD
lekarze.pl 14,000 EUR Doctors in Polish
welcome.in 5,250 EUR
ringtones.be 4,500 EUR
silver.biz 9,500 USD
I’m particularly impressed by the sale of Silver.biz, which ranks in the top 4 highest public sales of .biz of all time, according to NameBio.
Looking ahead to the sales pipeline, here are some domains currently on auction at Sedo:
OAI.com $20,000 – auction closes Tuesday
SR4000.com 12,000 EUR – auction closes Tuesday, car enthusiast web site
Payal.com – $8,000 – I’d stay away from this one. Although the description notes that a payal is an Indian accessory, the domain is clearly being monetized on PayPal typo traffic and earns thousands per year.
Move.us – $1,900 – nice play on “us”, similar to what people are doing for .me…although it also stands well alone for a moving company in the United States.
Canned.com – $310 – I think this is a great bargain. Not only is canned a food processing term, but it’s also slang for being fired. It would be perfect as a layoff tracker during the downturn.
BambooBoxers.com – $300 – I had to throw this one in there because it’s mine, and it was also mentioned in David Kesmodel’s The Domain Game book. I’m not going to get rich off of it, but it’s a good example of a forward looking hand registration paying off. On page 183 of The Domain Game:
Besides regularly reading Dwell magazine, Allemann subscribes to Wired, the cutting-edge technology magazine. In Wired, he regularly learns about emerging technologies, and registers a few names related to them. He also reads financial publications like the now-defunct Business 2.0, where he learned about bamboo shirts potentially replacing cotton, prompting him to register bambooshorts.com and bambooboxers.com.
I have no idea if the current bidder plans to use it for this purpose, but it makes for a good story.

Silver.biz will probably be used to promote the purchase of scrap sterling silver.
That business always increases when the price of silver rises.
Tired of his SEO says
Andrew,
I realize you want to be fair.
But, I’m getting tired of Robbie’s one line post everywhere. He
His domain is only 2 weeks old and he must have posted 1,000 times (anywhere he can).
He is definitely abusing the “comments” sections EVERYWHERE.
Andrew says
@ Tired – I have resolved the issue already, thanks
Steve M says
Bamboo Boxers, Andrew?
Ouch! ๐
Patrick McDermott says
Yes,Robbie is definitely overexposing himself
to his detriment.
He’s getting the opposite result he wanted.
Andrew says
@ Steve M – according to the article, the bamboo is processed to make it extremely soft and comfortable. Maybe with my $300 I’ll buy a pair ๐

I just registered BambooBoxing.com BambooWrestlers.com and BambooFighters.com. They are now for sale too. Oh and dont’ forget ObamaBambooBoxers.com
Andrew says
@ Idiot Domainer – do you think my BambooPalin.com domain is worthless now? ๐
annoyed at robbie too says
Yeah, I’m getting real tired of Robbies spammy comments. It’s clear he is just trawling through the domaining.com links and posting any old BS EVERYDAY, just to promote his regfeenames site. Message to Robbie: not cool.

Bamboo is interesting and I have to say thanks for a good idea. I was able to grab a few good domains based on the fabric “modal” which is made from the beech wood. It is super soft and a great fabric that is will catch on. So thank you.

I’m always amazed to see all those ccTLD keyword domains sell.
There are still many opportunities to pick up great keywords as investments if you know where to look ๐
Sedo is the best when it comes to domain sales to end-users.

I’m glad to finally see .biz getting the recognition it deserves. However, even at $9500 I think it is still a bit undervalued. Whatever, hopefully it will start a trend that will enable me to start shifting, for a decent price, some of the prime single word generic domains that I’ve been sitting on since the day .biz went live.
